Sustainability Activities at Our Sites and Affiliates

Based on our corporate mission of “uplifting the world with ‘memory,’” the Kioxia Group pursues sustainability management aiming to enrich people’s lives through our products and services and to broaden society’s possibilities.  We deeply value not only the department in charge of sustainability promotion at the head office, which is a center function, but also the sites and affiliates within the group, and each employee can realize that we are making society better through our daily work.

When we show this concept graphically it will be as following. The Kioxia Group has traditionally engaged in “sustainability center function” and “employee activities”, and as an intermediate activity that connects the two, we launched “activities at sites and affiliates” at three sites and affiliates in FY2023: the Yokkaichi Plant, the Yokohama Technology Campus, and Kioxia Iwate Corporation, which are the main sites in Japan. As a result, we have established an internal system that aims to reach each employee with policies and concepts for sustainability activities that we are promoting throughout the company.

Sustainability promotion activities at our sites and affiliates consist of two way activities called vertical columns and horizontal lines.

Activities of vertical columns

In order for the KIOXIA Group to develop sustainably with society, it is an initiative to visualize and manage progress on sustainability materiality as a particularly important theme, as well as KPIs linked to it. This ensures that each site’s efforts are aligned with the group’s overall goals and are on schedule.

Activities of horizontal lines

Each site promotes activities with discretion, and the main activities are the realization of job satisfaction, working diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and the creation of better relationships with the local community. By addressing these challenges, each site will improve employee engagement and build better relationships with the community.

The Kioxia Group is launching this activity from large domestic sites and affiliates, but will eventually expand to all domestic and international sites and major group companies. Through this activity, the sustainability management policies and concepts promoted throughout the company are aimed at reaching each employee, expanding the circle of empathy, and transforming their behavior.

The Kioxia Group will continue to work on sustainability management in order to realize a sustainable society.
